From server list to first round.
Two ways to join a Counter-Strike 1.6 server.
Connect with Steam
- Install Counter-Strike 1.6 and sign in to Steam.
- Open a server page in this directory.
- Choose Connect with Steam and allow your browser to open Steam when prompted.
- If a password is required, obtain it from the server’s community.
Use the in-game console
Copy the connect command from a server page. Start Counter-Strike 1.6, open the developer console and paste it, then press Enter.
connect IP:PORTThe console is usually opened with the tilde key (~). If it is unavailable, check the game’s keyboard and console settings.
If the connection fails
- No response
- Check the last observation time and try again. Your route or firewall may differ from the monitoring node’s.
- Server full
- Wait for room to join or use the Has room for players filter. Player counts can change between checks.
- Password required
- Contact the community that operates the server.
- Version or content mismatch
- Make sure you are running Counter-Strike 1.6 and follow that server’s published requirements.
Never enter your Steam password on a game-server website to connect. A standard connect command needs only the server address.
